Remodeling Tips
Before the remodeling begins:
- Provide an enclosed area, like a garage or basement, to store the cabinets and appliances when they are delivered.
- Provide an area for the installers to store their tools and equipment.
- Carefully pack all of your kitchen items and label the boxes for easy unpacking after the work is complete. Make sure you don't pack the items (utensils, coffee maker, toaster, blender, etc.) that will be needed during the remodeling.
- Set aside another area of the house to use as a temporary kitchen. A dining room may be ideal for this, especially if it is near a source of water like a downstairs bathroom.
- Set up a cooking area in this temporary kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc.
- Prepare and freeze a selection of meals that can be defrosted and reheated on the microwave during the remodeling.
- If you have pets you may also want to set up a another temporary area to be used for their feeding station.
